Marshalltown, Iowa, September 11, 2019: The Community Foundation of Marshall County (CFMC) is pleased to announce a $25,000 grant award from the second 2019 funding cycle for the Rebuild Marshalltown Fund.  The grant recipient is Youth and Shelter Services of Marshall County (YSSMC) project to renovate their new location which was formerly the Marshalltown Police Department.

“This grant shows evidence of our commitment to rebuild Marshalltown and we are excited about the expanded services YSSMC will be offering the citizens of Marshall County at their new location.” said CFMC Executive Director Julie Hitchins.

In the spring of 2019 YSSMC entered into an agreement to purchase the former police station for $35. Each dollar represented a year they have served children and families of Marshall County. The grant award from the Rebuild Marshalltown Fund will allow them to begin Phase I which includes creation of an inviting vestibule and entry, reception area, family waiting room, a conference room and updated restroom. This new space will enhance and expand the services YSSMC can offer to the children and families of Marshall County.

The Rebuild Marshalltown Fund will accept letters of intent for one more 2019 funding cycle on October 1st.  Please visit the Community Foundation of Marshall County’s website at www.cfmarshallco.org for more specific information on the letter of intent process.

“We are pleased that donors have recognized that the rebuilding of Marshalltown will be a long journey and continue to support the fund with donations.” said fund co-chairs Heidi Dalal and Steve Troskey.

Long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts in Marshalltown have only just begun. Together, we can rebuild Marshalltown to the place we all know and love. Contributions to the Rebuild Marshalltown Fund can be made online at www.cfmarshallco.org/rebuild-marshalltown-fund/ or checks can be mailed to the Community Foundation of Marshall County, 11 N.
